SAT/ACT instructor teaches prep classes

This upcoming February and March, Dr. Scott Carlin will hold online classes for those who want to prepare for the SAT, ACT or both.

The SAT online classes are available for $179. That includes seven hours broken down into three sessions. For the ACT, there are classes online for $199 for a total of eight hours broken down into four sessions.

“The SAT and ACT tests are what universities look at when people apply,” Carlin said.

Carlin claims taking his preparation class allows students to gain more knowledge and positively affects their future when applying to college.

“In the last 10 years, I’ve taught at 40 different schools,” Carlin said. “Many students have taken the test prep classes and it continues to grow.”

Carlin started giving online preparation classes about 12 years ago and started them about six years ago at Grand Haven High School.

“Students just need to register online to take the online classes to prepare,” Carlin said.

Carlin can be reached at 517-803-5037 or by email at [email protected] to see what he has to offer to help students prepare.

“Michigan might only accept two out of 10 people and looking at their scores is what makes them look different,” Carlin said. “They all could volunteer, participate in sports and be a part of national honors society, but those scores are what makes the similar applicants look different.”
