A high-energy junior struts through the hallways- yelling self promotions, “Check out my mixtape, Soundcloud- Lando, four o’s!”
Landoooo, otherwise known as Landan Myers, has been writing raps and producing beats for over six years. His first mixtape “Trust None” has thousands of listens on Soundcloud and counting.
Rapping is more than just a hobby for Myers. It’s a lifestyle.
“It started just as something I liked to do, and then it turned into this big passion of mine,” Myers said.
The dream for Meyers is to perform at sold out shows. But more importantly,he strives to influence others and the musical world; following in the footsteps of Tupac and Notorious B.I.G.
“I want to inspire people with my raps, the way they (Tupac and Biggie) inspired me,” Myers said. “But music is always changing, so while I do that, I also have to add my own style and my own flavor to it.”
Myer’s admits that his lyrical inspiration comes from his father and grandfather, along with the downtown Muskegon area where he grew up.
“I try to expose my surroundings [in the music],” Meyers said. “I gotta stay true to my roots.”
That passion is exactly what makes Myers stand out to most people. Despite any discouraging comments he may receive, he doesn’t allow any of it to sink underneath the surface.  It shows through his undying dedication and focus to his music.
“I definitely get a lot of criticism,” Meyers said “but a lot of it is constructive, and I appreciate that, because you need it to grow.”
Even if his rapping career doesn’t take off the way he wants it too, Meyers wants to stay in the music industry for the rest of his life. He plans to attend Full Sail University after high school, and from there possibly become an audio engineer in Atlanta to help other upcoming artists.
“Music is my life, ya know? It’s what lifts my spirits,” Meyers said.
