Sachteleben starts pre-med club

Getting into med school is a competitive process but a group of students are taking steps to make it easier by starting a new Pre-Med Club.
“I started this club because it’s a chance to be with other people who have the same goals for life as I have,” said junior Emma Sachteleben “Besides that, medicine is a complicated field to go into and any early practice will set one apart from other med students,”
Sachteleben founded the club along with the help of juniors Noah Brondyke and Brittany Jullie in the classroom of Mrs. Portenga who took on the job of the club adviser.
The club accepts students who have been through a biology class and are interested in going into medicine or surgery. Participants will be taught by teacher Mrs. Portenga about the different systems and functions of anatomy followed by a monthly hands-on fetal pig dissection to utilize the month’s information.
No specific schedule has been made yet. For further information, contact one of the club founders.
“This is a chance for me to bounce ideas about my future profession off others,” said Sachteleben.
