Seniors in Derek Warner’s Outdoor Education class helped return pop bottles from the “Return the Love” fundraiser for the Vredeveld family on Friday, Feb. 12. 

All proceeds will go to the Vredeveld family to offset any costs related to the passing of teaching assistant Patti Vredeveld, who lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, Feb. 4. 

Since Outdoor Education is already considered an off-campus course, students in the class were allowed to leave campus to help. Assistant Principal Gina Schmitt reached out to Warner to see if he would let his students help, and he agreed. 

There will be another “Return the Love” can drive on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“It’s been really cool to see how the community has wrapped around the community and been willing to support us,” Schmitt said.
