Want to “change” the way you give this holiday season? Consider getting involved in Penny Wars.
From Dec. 9 to 13, each teacher will be given a bucket for students in their third hour class to donate pennies to. Whichever class acquires the most points in pennies will earn a reward given out in the final week before winter break.
Feeling like more of a Grinch? Get your Christmas-grouch fix by sabotaging other classrooms with the contribution of nickels, dimes and quarters in their containers, in order to negate their points.
“I think [penny wars] is a fun way for classes to compete around the holiday season,” Student Senate President, Erin Staal said. “But it’s also a great way to get the whole school involved in raising money for Student Senate related stuff.”
Money raised during the Penny Wars goes into gifts given to senior citizens in the community, as well as possibly aiding Student Senate’s funds for the families they assist during Adopt a Family.
