Sophomore Ellie Guilford has mixed feelings about this time off from school.

“I was excited at first but then I realized, ‘oh, that means I don’t get to do anything for three weeks,’” Guilford said. “But, I mean, I get to be with my cat all day.”

She likes to keep her cat Sofia close by and sitting on her bed. She also has another cat, Phoenix, and two dogs: Sassy and Melaina.

This extra time at home means she hangs out with her pets during the day. However, she misses the company of her friend, sophomore Amaya Lankheet.

They’ve stayed connected through Google Hangouts, which is now enabled on the Chromebooks. She enjoys chatting and playing Minecraft with her.

“We like to mess around a lot,” Guilford said.

Although she hasn’t had the opportunity to hang out with her friend in person, she’s had more time to hang out with her grandma.

“We just go on adventures together,” Guilford said. “My grandma is my best friend.”

Her grandma, a fitness instructor at Four Pointes, currently has time off of work as well. Guilford is close with her, but now can visit her during the day as well. They enjoy watching VHS movies together, like “Veggie Tales.”

“It’s been really fun,” Guilford said. “We just like to chill and talk a lot.”
