Sophomores Kylie Wooten and Avabelle Madison sit in a classroom to compete virtually in a mock trial.

Mock Trial club competed in the Oakland Regional Two competition on Feb. 27 with two teams. One of the two groups qualified for states.

Normally the event would be held in Lansing, but this year everything is virtual.

The purpose of this club is to teach students interested in law the procedures of the courtroom while reenacting what might take place in a trial court.

“Especially for me, since it’s my first year, this club has taught me how to speak louder, objections, and the different laws in court,” sophomore Avabella Madison said.

Depending on how many teams are in each region and the percent by victory of the club determine if a team goes to states. States will be on Mar. 20.
