Math lab open for students seeking help
Math lab supervisor Jeanne Sherman is available in the math lab from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Sherman is available for anyone who needs extra help with their math work in pod six.
“It’s here as a resource room for any sort of math help anybody needs,” Sherman said. “Students come in here to get help with their math work and get help getting caught up with stuff, or if they need to finish taking a test.”
There are new protocols put into place due to COVID-19.
“I make everybody wear their masks correctly,” Sherman said. “When you leave, I wipe your spot on the table and I wipe everything all the time.”
Sherman also keeps track of everyone who comes into the math lab and how long they were there on a Google Sheet. The Google Sheet is then used for cross checking if needed by assistant principal Gina Schmitt.
Even with COVID-19, Sherman continues to come into school to help students who need it.
“I like working with kids who are struggling,” Sherman said. “It reminds me of tutoring because it’s more one on one focus and I really enjoy that. I really like working one on one with the kids and seeing their progress.”
