This past weekend the Delta Epsilon Chi and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) local club brought home two medals from the state conference held in Detroit. It is a program designed for students looking at a career in marketing, finance, or business. About 4,000 participants from across the state attended the conference.

“The state conference was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, the conference completely took over Detroit,” junior Laney Decker said. “My group and I did a written project on finances and how we want to implement a program that will target at high schoolers who need to become more financially literate.”

Besides written projects, there were other types of competition at the conference such as role plays where you are give a case study and must present to a judge.

“Overall I’m really glad I got involved in the club,” Decker said, “It’s a lot of hard work and you have to be invested and open to learn but it’s a great group of kids and something anyone can be involved in even if they’re not planning on becoming entrepreneurs.”
