GHAPS School Board Appoints New Trustee

GHAPS School Board Appoints New Trustee

After the resignation of GHAPS school board President John Siemion on Sept. 2, the school board began the interviewing process to find a new trustee. They appointed Marc Eickholt (41) to fill the position.

In addition to his responsibilities on the school board, he currently works at Siemens Digital Industries. Before working there he worked as the education application development manager at the Ottawa Country Intermediate School district.

Eickholt wants to focus on many things while on the board, working to improve GHAPS for all students, including for his own children.

My wife and I have three children who have always attended GHAPS with twin daughters in the 6th grade at White Pines and a son in 1st grade at Griffin Elementary,” Eickholt explains.

“My main priority is that we don’t lose sight of the challenges on the horizon due to the hurdles directly in front of us,” Eickholt said. “In short, this is to continue to improve GHAPS in all facets for not only our current students but our future students.”

Eickholt hopes to work effectively with other members of the board to improve Grand Haven Area Public Schools for all current and future students, He also plans to run for a full term in the 2022 election.

Now that the school board has all positions filled, they have shuffled positions around- Carl Treutler, longtime Vice President, has become President, Christine Baker is Vice President, and Seth Holt is treasurer, while all other members are trustees.

So as the school board comes to the end of a quick interviewing process, Marc Eickholt will fill the role and attempt to use his skills, knowledge, and voice to improve GHAPS.
