Grand Haven soccer advances to district finals after defeating Mona Shores 1-0

What Happened: On Thursday night the Bucs faced Muskegon Mona Shores in round two of districts. With the prospect of going home both teams came off the bench determined. Early in the first-half senior Christian Dault capitalized off of a penalty kick to put the Bucs ahead of the Sailors 1-0. Grand Haven held Mona Shores with zero goals for the remainder of the game.

Player of the game: Junior goalkeeper Garrison Mast held a lot of hard shots by the Sailors in tough conditions.

Quote of the night:  “We can’t slow down now,” senior Adam Greer said. “Every game now just gets harder and harder. We have to show up and do our best.”

Up Next: The victory advances the boys to the district finals on Saturday. Grand Haven (15-2-3) will take on conference opponent Rockford (14-6-3) at 6 p.m. at Baldwin Middle School in Hudsonville. The Bucs and Rams butted heads twice this season. Grand Haven won both games 2-0.
