The boys ski team along with a few individual qualifiers from the girls team traveled to Boyne Highlands last week for the ski state finals.

“This is the best result in many, many years,” coach Anna Braymer said. “The last time the boys team qualified for state finals was 2009 with a 7th place finish.”

The Buccaneer boys came out with a fifth place finish with top-20 finishers in giant slalom and slalom. Sophomore Kate Kendall and junior Eden Nykamp qualified from the girls team with Nykamp finishing 21 in giant slalom.

“Both teams had a very strong season, improving quite a bit from last year yet again,” Braymer said. “The boys finished as conference champions out of 11 teams. The girls finished the conference as a strong third overall.”
