Posters in the hallways advertise the opportunity to give blood to help people in need. One donation has the potential to help save up to three lives.

What:

The blood drive is an annual event presented by the anatomy class. Volunteers donate a pint of blood that can save up to three lives.

 

When:

The event will take place on Friday, Nov. 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

 

Where:

If you are volunteering to donate blood, head to the auxiliary gym.

 

Requirements:

You must bring either your student ID or driver’s license, wear a short sleeve shirt and bring a sweatshirt or jacket. If you are 16, in order to participate you need parental consent. No participants can be under the age of 16. Anyone volunteering to donate that is a female must be at least 120 pounds and males must be at least 110 pounds. Before leaving the gym, be sure check out with staff.

 

Preparation:

To help prepare before donating, Mr Diederichsen wants students to eat well before and make sure to eat a good nutritious breakfast, meaning, not just a poptart.

“Stay away from caffeine at least a day before,” he said.
