Social studies teacher and advisor Jason Duram will host a Mock Trial informational meeting November 1 in his classroom (pod 1, room 1105) for those interested in joining the club.

Mock Trial is a competition between schools from around the state in a realistic trial setting, the type of trial rotates yearly. The club itself is in preparation for this end-of-the-year competition. Two teams, prosecution and defense, are rated on their ability to argue the case.

“It takes a tremendous amount of planning and organization,” Duram said. “But I also think it takes a tremendous amount of grit, because there’s a lot of ups and downs in a trial and you have to be able to respond, you have to learn to think quickly on your feet.”

Anyone is welcome to join, though the club is geared toward those with a competitive spirit and looking to go into a field of law.

The club usually meets Mondays and Tuesdays, but the meetings increase as the competition days get closer. Individual groups often meet outside of school as well.
