Junior Kyle Eveland attacks the net late in a contest during the Kentwood tournament this past weekend. Eveland needed to give it his all in order to help the Bucs pull out a much needed victory.

What Happened: The Bucs closed out an early season tournament with a nail-biter victory over Portage Northern, winning 5-4. It was a solid response after dropping a close game in OT the night before. Senior Austin Fox had solid leadership to push the Bucs over the hump and junior Kyle Eveland had two crucial goals, with one to snatch the Bucs a win late in the game.

They Said It: “We started off really good but they came back to tie it,” said junior Jax Plumert. “We then scored on a 5 on 3 power-play, [junior Kyle Eveland] closed it out with the game-winner along with two more. All in all, we played a solid game.”

What’s Next: The Bucs Hockey team has a brief break, then heads to O.K. Conference Tier 3 foe, Jenison, on Friday, Dec. 1, beginning at 8 p.m.
