Bucs’ basketball tops conference rival Rockford

What happened: The Buccaneer boys Varsity Basketball team defeated conference rival Rockford, 51-40 on Tuesday to improve their record to 9-3 overall (3-2 in OK-Red). The Buccaneers got off to a slow start and shots weren’t falling. As the game progressed, the guys got more confident and shots were starting to fall. This win was critical for the Bucs’ as they dropped two straight to East Kentwood and West Ottawa prior to. The defense was strong for Grand Haven and held the Rams to 40 points.The offense was also able to adjust well to the Rockford zone defense and put up 51 points.

Key contributors:  Ross Koella led the way for the Bucs’ scoring 15 points. Clay Landsman also added value by scoring 10 points on the night. Sophomore Casey Constant pitched in with three crucial three point baskets in the third quarter for nine points.
