What Happened: As a battle of the top two teams in the O-K Red, the game between Grand Haven and East Kentwood was highly anticipated. The game got off to a rough start for the Buccaneers as the Falcons scored two goals to secure a 2-0 halftime lead. Despite the deficit, Grand Haven came out of halftime determined to cut the lead. Senior Christian Dault scored on a free kick 8 minutes into the half, but a Falcon free kick moments later shattered the Bucs’ dreams of a comeback.

Key Player: Dault’s goal gave the visiting Buccaneers a chance to get back in the game early in the second half. The senior has contributed four goals and four assists on the season thus far.

The Standings: Both East Kentwood (10-3, 5-0) and Grand Haven (9-1-2, 4-1) came into Tuesday night’s game undefeated in conference play. With the win, EK secured the number one spot in the O-K Red while the Bucs drop to number two.

They Said It: “It looked like we were almost timid or scared of [East Kentwood] because they’re the best team we have played so far,” senior Riley Taylor said. “We look forward to playing them at home. [Playing at home] will help a lot with the student section there. It’ll be pretty rowdy.”

On Deck: Grand Haven try to bounce back as they host Holland West Ottawa at 7:15 PM Thursday.
