Buccaneer rugby defeats West Catholic

The varsity team huddles to celebrate their win. They took on West Catholic and came away with a 24-7 win.

What happened: The growing rugby club traveled to West Catholic high school and came away with two wins. The junior varsity team won 10 to 7 after varsity showed off with a 24 to 7 win.

Key player: Senior Chase Pego earns key player once again, not only did he score 14 of the night’s points but also showed impressive kicking skills that set up for the scores.

Who scored: Senior Chase Pego scored two tries for the varsity team along with four points in field goals, junior Wayne McLaughlin matched Pego scoring two tries. As for the JV team, junior Andrew Dalman scored their try and junior Eli Holt made a penalty kick for three points and a two point conversion.

What’s next: Bucs stay at home next week, JV plays division three on Monday at White Pines Intermediate at 6 p.m, varsity is also at White Pines starting at 6 p.m on Tuesday, they will be playing division two.
