A book drive is being held this week in hopes of supplying a GHHS Alumnus and Peace Corps volunteer with books to build a library in Sierra Leone, Africa.

Books will be collected in your third hour class, and money donations will be accepted in the library and main office. Books donated can be new or used and should be early childhood to 6th grade reading level.

“It’s a way to reach out and do something that’s bigger than our school,” McKenna Keefe, the leader of the book drive, said.

When she was contacted by her sister Jordan Keefe who is the Peace Corps volunteer in Sierra Leone Mckenna knew she had to help. Being on student senate allowed Mckenna the platform to bring the book drive to the students of GHHs. Mckenna wants to support her sister anyway she can and this book drive gives her the opportunity to do this while helping others too.

“It’s a cool way to way to be able to spread out the wealth we have in Grand Haven and help people that are less fortunate,” Mckenna  said.
